J u d g i n g   &   R u l e s

Rules
 

1. Entry is open to anyone aged over 18 years.

2. Entry is open to international competitors.

3. Applicants must be female and can be in solos, doubles or groups.

4. Performances must be between 3.5-4.5 minutes long.

5. Any significant changes to the performance as described in the application are not permitted without Organiser approval.

6. Performers are permitted to use any props, sets, costuming, additional performers, sound effects, performance apparatus or footwear, provided that:

a. the venue allows for it physically;
b. it could easily be transported on a plane; and
c. it can be set up and completely removed in under two minutes.
 

Judging

1. Semi Pro division competitors will be judged separately.

2. A winner will be announced in each of the 4 categories. From those 4 winners, an overall winner will be announced.

3. The overall winner will be the competitor with the highest score based on points awarded.

4. Judges will score competitors separately and will not discuss their scores with each other, but judges are allowed to discuss their scoring of the competitors at the end of the competition prior to deciding the results.

5. Score-sheets and comments will be made available to competitors within one week after the competition.

6. A Sponsor’s Choice prize may be announced.
 

X-Factor and Stage Presence
In all categories, there are 10 points available for the overall entertainment factor. Contestants will be judged on their ability to entertain and engage the audience.
 

Pole Skill
In all categories, competitors will be judged on their control and execution of tricks Competitors must be able to perform tricks and combinations with fluidity and control. Competitors with a high level of difficulty of tricks will only score well if they perform those tricks well.
 

Costume/Theme
All competitors will be judged on creativity and originality in costume and theme. The competitor’s choice of costume must be appropriate for their performance and enhance the story or theme of the performance. The theme must be consistent and relevant to the performance and/or the story.

Appropriateness of music choice and musical interpretation

In Pole Classique and Pole Art, contestants will be judged on their choice of music and how effectively they interpret their music.
 

Dance and floor work
In Pole Classique and Pole Art, judges will be looking for originality in sequences, smoothness in transitions, and execution of dance and floor work.
 

Storyline development
In Pole Drama, it is essential to tell a story. Judges will be looking for clarity in the message and story told in the performance.
 

Movement and use of stage
In Pole Drama and Pole Comedy, competitors are judged not on dance but on movement and use of stage. Competitors should move confidently and with purpose, and effectively use the stage area.
 

Incorporation of comedic elements and audience engagement
In Pole Comedy, the judges will be looking to see how effectively the competitor is able to entertain and engage the audience.
 

Incorporation of sexy/sensual style movement into pole and floor work
In Pole Classique, competitors must demonstrate mastery of sexy movement and dance. Competitors  will be judged on the “sexy” element. Competitors are required to wear heels.

4. Incorporation of striptease & sexy/sensual movement into pole & floor work: 15 points

5. X-Factor and stage presence: 10 points
